WHEN SHOULD YOU SEE YOUR DOCTOR?

• When you experience a sudden and intense pain in the pelvis.

• When the pelvic pain persists for more than two days or recidivism.

• When you experience a burning sensation on urination, increased frequency of urination, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

• If you are pregnant.

• If you have a loss of appetite and pelvic pain ensue.

• When you’ve been suffering from a sexually transmitted infection in the past or you have sex with multiple partners.
What show symptoms

Unfortunately, some of the qualities that make the uterus feminine ideal site for the growing fetus – containing heat and humidity – also makes it fertile ground for the development of bacteria. And bacterial infections in the uterus can cause considerable pelvic pain.

Urinary tract infections can also cause pelvic pain in both men and women. Women are much more likely to develop these infections, however. (In fact, while men might have pelvic pain, symptoms occur almost invariably in women.) Another important cause of pelvic pain is the salpingitis acute inflammation of the fallopian tubes. The sexually transmitted diseases are mostly responsible for acute salpingitis, but other infections can also cause a problem.
In some cases, the doctor should be able to identify the cause of pain when you describe it in the nature and location. If the acute salpingitis is your problem, the two sides of the basin will be painful. On the other hand, the pain caused by the rupture of an ovarian kystt occurs suddenly, and over one side than the other.

Endometriosis – no tissue outside the uterus – causing chronic pelvic pain, painful rules very dangerous, as well as sex sensitive. Ectopic pregnancy also causes pelvic pain.

In the case of appendicitis, you lose your appetite first pui pain near the navel will occur and develop in 1 lower right abdomen. "The pelvic pain are not all a cause for concern, however. If you feel a slight pain in the middle of your menstrual cycle, do not worry, "says David Soper, a physician, gynecologist at the Medical College of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Some women find this type of pain when ovulent, and it is quite normal and harmless.
Symptom Relief

Fortunately, there is a solution to all problems pelvic. However, the most effective treatment is to consult their physician for a comprehensive review.

Get rid of the first infection. "If your doctor discovers a urinary tract infection, it might prescribe a ANTIBACTERIAL you." Jack said Lapid, doctor, urologist in Ann Arbor, Michigan. "You can prevent recurrent urinary tract infections trying to urinate more frequently. What is frequently? Not less than every three hours during the day, and once or twice at night if the problem persists, "he says. Urinate immediately after sex can prevent infection.

Ask an analgesic. "If the pain is caused by the rupture of an ovarian cyst, the only treatment you will need is a pain," says David Eschenbach, physician, professor and chief of gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. It is rare for bleeding from the rupture of a cyst required surgery. "Your doctor may also prescribe painkillers such as ibuprofen for pelvic pain from other causes," said Dr. Soper.

Make your treat endometriosis. There are many ways to treat endometriosis, depending on the severity of pain and extent of the excrescence. The prescription of the contraceptive pill can stop the pain of endometriosis. However, there are prescription medications that promote the absorption of tissue interrupted menstrual cycle and producing a "chemical menopause" temporary. GnRH agonists, however, can not be taken in the short term, ie about six months.

If drugs are ineffective and that the pain of endometriosis persists, your doctor may suggest surgery called laparoscopy. "During this procedure, we introduce an endoscope through the abdominal wall," said Dr. Soper. The doctor can then vaporize damaged tissue. In some cases, hysterectomy, ie the removal of the uterus, is recommended. But this is done as a last resort, and when we got a second opinion on the subject.
How to treat and prevent acute salpingitis

In a sense, you’re lucky if your pelvic pain reported pelvic inflammatory disease. For many women, salpingitis acute illness is a "silent" or painless, and they face a high risk of infertility or ectopic pregnancy never realize they have a problem. Although acute salpingitis should not be taken lightly, treatment usually relieves the pain, but about 10% of women become sterile after the disease.

"We treat the acute salpingitis almost entirely through oral antibiotics," said Dr. Eschenbach. More serious cases of salpingitis may require intravenous antibiotic treatment in hospital.
Preventive measures against salpingitis

The prevention of a recurrence of salpingitis is you. Here’s how.

Stop smoking. "One of the things you can do is to quit," said Polly Marchbanks, Ph.D., epidemiologist and head of epidemics at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

Are you surprised? We know that almost all smoking increases the risk of cancer of the throat and lungs. Few people know that smoking can cause cancer of the bladder, pancreas and cervix. Dr. Marchbanks and CDC researchers have discovered a link between smoking and salpingitis.

Do not shower. "The douches salpingitis can cause acute infectious substances pushing deeper into the uterus or by disrupting the normal vaginal bacteria," said Dr. Eschenbach. The vagina is quite capable of cleaning itself through normal secretions.
Know your risk. Because sexually transmitted diseases are a leading cause of acute salpingitis, protection is essential. Researchers at the Center for Research and policy on reproductive health at the University of California at San Francisco remind you that mutual monogamy is the most secure protection; any new sexual partner increases your risk of acute salpingitis.

Protect yourself. The mechanical or chemical barriers are a very effective way of preventing acute salpingitis. Among these are the latex condoms, diaphragms and spermicides.

Do not ignore your infections. "A quick treatment for any symptoms suggestive of Vaginal infection is of major importance against the acute salpingitis," the researchers argue. Remember also to abstain from sex during treatment. If your doctor tells you that your type of infection could be transmitted sexually, do not forget to ask your partner to seek treatment too.
