When a hot flash attack it dilates the blood vessels on the upper part of the body and allows more blood flow which gives a hot feeling on face and on neck that may last for a few seconds to an hour.

To prevent hot flash, first is to identify what triggers hot flash to avoid it since it is possible to manage the problem when it is mild, without any remedy. Another way to take care of this problem is a modification in lifestyle, change it diet, and reducing some stress. Additional nonprescription medication is necessary for a mild hot flash. Herbal remedies like ginseng, black cohosh, wild yam root, dong quai, prime rose oil and sage tea may help but its effect for a woman who have breast cancer is unknown so care should be taken in such cases.
