While Looking for a Church

Posted on Monday, February 13, 2012 in Church

Finding a church after moving to a new community can be a time consuming experience.  One visit is often not enough and you can possibly visit only one up to two churches a week.  While undergoing the process, prayer is of primary importance in the process.  As you seek for the right church, He will grant you wisdom to know where he wants you to establish fellowship and praise Him and His glory.

The denomination to join depends largely on your decision.   Bear in mind that it not a requirement for salvation.  What is more important is that one understands the doctrinal beliefs of the church before joining.  Many people become disillusioned after investing a great deal of time in a church.  But you can avoid such disappointment by looking closely at the church’s statement of faith and practices.  Establish first whether the church effectively teaches the Bible through their sermons.  If you are not sure, talk to someone knowledgeable about it.  You can also learn from classes or written material to understand the church’s doctrine.  For instance, the baptist sermon and the baptist church’s belief about baptism which is what distinguish them from other religious denominations.  Look into the practices and beliefs and check it against the bible.

Then ask yourself whether you prefer to worship through a structured liturgy or through an informal atmosphere.  Catholics, Anglican and Orthodox churches usually have more formal services while the baptist and nondenominational churches tend to have a more relaxed, informal worship services.  Worship is the way we express our love and appreciation to God and His glory.  Consider what style of worship will allow you to express your adoration to God.  Worship is a key part of church experience to give the style of worship serious consideration.  Word-driven baptist sermons are an integral part of baptist church services which members look forward to.

Remember that there is no perfect church but you can find the right church for you.  Visit a church at least three times before making a decision.  When you are at your quest, do not try to change a church just because some of their practices do not conform to your beliefs.  Churches are set in a particular mission and they differ from each other.  There are so many to choose from, you just need to find one that is a good fit for you.

Never give up and keep searching.  Being in a good baptist church is too important to neglect.  Remember to pray for time and a great deal of patience.
